The vulnerability comes from a portion of code where pages are redirected and loaded within phpMyAdmin, and an improper test for whitelisted pages. An attacker must be authenticated, except in the \"$cfg['AllowArbitraryServer'] = true\" case (where an attacker can specify any host he/she is already in control of, and execute arbitrary code on phpMyAdmin) and the \"$cfg['ServerDefault'] = 0\" case (which bypasses the login requirement and runs the vulnerable code without any authentication).","cvss_version":"3.1","cvss_vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","base_score":8.8,"base_severity":"HIGH","attack_vector":"NETWORK","privileges_req":"LOW","user_interaction":"NONE","scope":"UNCHANGED","impact_c":"HIGH","impact_i":"HIGH","impact_a":"HIGH","cwe_ids":["CWE-287"],"in_kev":false,"kev_date_added":null,"kev_ransomware":false,"epss_score":0.9835,"epss_percentile":0.99918,"cap_rule_version":"0.1.1","stage":"EXECUTION","req_access":"USER","req_vector":"NETWORK","req_user_interaction":false,"grant_access":"USER","caps":["AUTH_BYPASS","CODE_EXEC"],"terminal":false,"cap_confidence":"high","ingested_at":"2026-09-18T08:47:58.689425+00:00","first_seen":"2018-06-21T20:29:00.327000+00:00","kev_first_seen":null,"novelty_score":0.0,"novelty_reasons":[],"novelty_at":null,"vendors":["phpmyadmin"],"products":["phpmyadmin"],"affected":[{"vendor":"phpmyadmin","product":"phpmyadmin","ranges":["≥ 4.8.0 and < 4.8.2"]}]}
